About Me

I am a graduate student at Sullivan Heights Secondary School. I have been playing for the school team since I was in grade ten. I am an excellent candidate for college basketball because I am pursuing a career in basketball for a better future. I am currently taking Sports Science at Douglas College.

I have studied hard and played basketball for the school team. I had to balance and practice time management during my studies and sports activities. Basketball has impacted my life because I strived to do better every time I played. I have set certain goals for myself to push past obstacles that I have faced throughout my basketball career.

Basketball has made me more motivated and hard-working because it showed me that if you have a passion for something and you work towards it, you can succeed. The court is the only place I can truly set aside certain issues to allow myself to feel euphoric. I have dedicated a lot of my time playing and studying.

Basketball has created many new friendships and connections for me. Over the past three years, I have built unique relationships with my teammates.

I have always had the drive to try different sports, which led to my infatuation with basketball. My goal academically is to finish my Diploma in Sports Science, to pursue sports physio, and to continue to play basketball in post-secondary.

I am a hardworking individual who works towards my goals with passion. I can drive to achieve greatness with standards that reach above and beyond. Also, I have a charismatic personality and am always open to learn and develop my skills further. I have an impressive range of skills in which I can demonstrate in various ways. I have shown exceptional focus and dedication in being the best at anything he puts his time and energy into.

What People Say About Me

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing and teaching Gerardo Arguello for the past three years at Sullivan Heights. I’ve taught him both PE and Athletic Leadership 10 as well Weight Training 11 & 12. As athletic director I’ve also had the privilege of watching him grow into a terrific basketball player on and off the court.

Gerardo is very committed to whatever he sets his mind to. He went from someone who didn’t make the basketball team in grade 8 to being the best player on the team in grade 12 with respect to effort, hard work and skill. Part of his commitment and hard work came through back to back years of enrolling in our school’s weight training program. Gerardo was dedicated and strictly followed his workout plan. His hard work in the weight transferred over into this play on the court. He led by example in the weight room with his dedication and hard work. He’s not a vocal leader however it doesn’t matter if he is in the weight room, on the basketball court or participating in both fitness and non fitness activities he always lets his actions and play do the talking.

I feel strongly that Gerardo would be a great fit for the sports science program at Douglas College. Through the weight training course work he has already been exposed to a vast number of topics regarding nutrition as well as creating and modifying his personal nutrition plan to meet his workout goals. It’s evident that he has a strong passion for sport and exercise based on this basketball career at the school and the active participation in physical education classes throughout his 5 years at the school.

Working hard, paying attention, willing to learn, adapt to new game strategies as well given it all and leaving it in the court.
